Huawei AppGallery is the official app distribution platform for Huawei devices and is available on non-Huawei Android devices as well. Following US trade restrictions in 2019, Huawei built its own robust ecosystem — HMS Core — making AppGallery an essential channel for reaching Huawei users who cannot access Google Play.
Our team handles the entire publishing workflow: from creating and verifying a Huawei Developer account to configuring the app listing in AppGallery Connect and passing the review process.
A critical aspect of publishing on AppGallery is replacing Google Mobile Services (GMS) with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). We integrate the required HMS Core kits — including HMS Account Kit, Push Kit, Location Kit, and Ads Kit — ensuring your app works seamlessly on all Huawei devices.
Huawei IAP (In-App Purchases) requires dedicated integration separate from Google Play billing. We implement Huawei IAP for subscriptions, consumable items, and one-time purchases, connecting to the full Huawei payment infrastructure.
Post-publication, we continue supporting updates, A/B testing via AppGallery Connect Experiments, crash analytics through AppGallery Connect, and app promotion through Huawei's Ads Kit advertising network.
History of Huawei AppGallery
Huawei launched its first app store, the Huawei App Market, in 2011 as a distribution channel for apps on Huawei Android devices. At that stage it operated alongside Google Play without major differentiation.
In May 2019 the US government placed Huawei on the Entity List, barring American companies including Google from doing business with Huawei. This forced Huawei to accelerate development of its own mobile services ecosystem.
In 2020 Huawei officially launched HMS Core as a comprehensive replacement for Google Mobile Services. AppGallery became a central component of this new ecosystem, and the company invested heavily in incentivizing developers to port or build apps natively for HMS.
Huawei's Shining Star program offered financial grants and marketing support to app developers who published on AppGallery. This accelerated catalog growth significantly, particularly in Europe and the Middle East.
In 2021 Huawei released HarmonyOS, its proprietary operating system, further differentiating its ecosystem. AppGallery today serves as the exclusive distribution channel for HarmonyOS apps and remains a key Android channel globally, ranking as the third-largest app store worldwide.
